Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner Review

Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner Review // Sam I Am I DoI love wood, and have slowly grown a collection of utensils for my kitchen.  I use them everyday, but after a while they lose their luster.  To keep them in good shape, I like to use Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner.  The conditioner is a combination of food-safe mineral oil for moisture, with beeswax and carnauba wax that acts as a protective sealant.

Applying the conditioner to the wood.

Conditioning my utensils is a  relaxing ritual that I try to do twice a year, while watching bad television (bad = really good). The process is really simple:

1.  Place the conditioner bottle in a bowl of hot water to help warm it up.  This allows the conditioner to seep deeper into the wood.

2.  Rub the conditioner with a rag in the direction of the grain, and let sit for at least twenty minutes.

3.  Using the same rag, buff the wood and wipe any excess conditioner off.

4.  Repeat if needed.

If your wood is looking a little weathered, I definitely recommend trying Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner.  It breathes new life into your wood, richening the color, and protecting it for months to come.
